A Belated Introduction – a bit about me

Joining the BY Projects Team

Hey! By now you’ve probably spoken to me over the phone, or I may even have made you a coffee. I’ve been working at BY Projects since June 2019, and six months for a proper introduction is long overdue.

My name is Zeb (not short for anything in my case!) and I’m a student of Architecture. As the most junior on the team my role is rather varied. On an average day I’ll be answering the phone, answering the door, and otherwise assisting with the day-to-day admin tasks, additional to my architectural work.

I’ve been doing a lot of interior related work, specifically for our Selsey Street and O’Connor Street projects. I have also, in my position, been helping out with a number of small residential planning permit applications.

A Bit About Me

Tasmanian born, I’ve been living in Melbourne since 2014 to pursue my ambition of becoming an architect (I had the choice of moving to Launceston or Melbourne to study, bit of a no-brainer!). One aspect of architecture that particularly motivates me is the opportunity to realise sustainable buildings.  I graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2017 and almost immediately went home to Tassie for a ‘well-earned’ break. Pleased by the prospect of a gap year, I took some time to catch up on R & R.  Personal stuff, nose in a book, drawing, going to gigs, cycling etc.

The Year Ahead

Looking ahead for 2019, it’s going to be a busy year as I continue my work at BY Projects, whilst also commencing my Masters degree. At work I’ll be assisting my Director, Barbara, in the building process of our eight townhouse development at 63 O’Connor St, Reservoir. At Uni, my indecisiveness has gotten the better of me and I’ve opted to study architecture and construction management. Stay tuned for updates.

Until next time,

Zeb Kitchell
